We cannot build what we cannot describe.
Strategic planning is more than creating a plan. It's about creating clarity, making thoughtful choices, and building shared commitment to where your organization is going.
I help organizations step back from day-to-day demands to better understand where they are today, explore what is changing around them, and make intentional decisions about where they want to go next.
My role is to serve as a content-neutral facilitator, creating the space, structure, and process for your people to do their best thinking together. You bring the expertise about your organization and stakeholders. I bring expertise in facilitation, group dynamics, research, strategic planning, and complex problem-solving.
The result is more than a strategic plan. It's a shared understanding of where you're going, why it matters, and what it will take to get there.
And because every organization is different, every strategic planning process should be different, too. I don't bring a predetermined plan or one-size-fits-all process. I work with you to design an approach that fits your organization, your people, your available resources, and the decisions you need to make.
Three Stages
While every process is customized, my approach to centers around three broad stages.

Experience Across Organizations and Sectors
My strategic planning work spans very different types of organizations, giving me the opportunity to see challenges, ideas, and approaches across sectors while approaching each engagement with fresh eyes.
My experience includes academic libraries, higher education, nonprofits, membership and professional associations, public health organizations, schools, government agencies, and community-based organizations.
That breadth is intentional. I bring perspectives and lessons from across sectors, but I don't assume that what worked somewhere else is the answer for you.
Your organization's people are the subject-matter experts. My job is to help them ask better questions, make sense of information, engage the right voices, explore possibilities, make thoughtful choices, and turn those choices into a direction people can understand and act upon.
